Emma is the founder of Boogie Down Studio.  She is trained in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, lyrical, hip hop, musical theatre and has taken all of her major Cecchetti ballet exams. Emma received a BFA Degree in Theatre Performance Dance from Ryerson University. At Ryerson, she had the privilege of studying under some of the most influential industrial leaders such as: Kenny Pearl, Louis Laberge-Cote, TDT’s Christopher House, D.A. Hoskins, Vicki St. Deny, Robert Glumbeck and Nadia Potts to name a few.

Emma’s recent credits includes the “Beat Team” on 4 Square, a children’s show on Treehouse TV. This popular kids show has been on air since the early 2000’s, and has maintained its position as one of the top television programs on Treehouse TV. Emma opened the 2014 MMVAs with Hedley performing CRAZY FOR YOU. Emma has performed with M.I.A. and hit the MUCH stage with PSY in the finale performance of GENTLEMAN at the 2013 MMVAs. Emma is currently performing with Sole Power Productions and had the honour to recently share the stage with artists such as Justin Bieber and Salt N Pepa, as well as Lenny Kravitz at the Rogers Center for the 10th Year Anniversary Motoamore Rock and Roll Carnival. Emma has appeared on Kidomo Children’s Theatre: The Buster and Billy Show and the Clifford Show, as well as multiple Fashion Shows, Special Events and TV Commercials including Joe Fresh “Bring on Winter”.

Lindsay Campagna M.C.D.T.A – Competitive Director

Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Open

Lindsay has had extensive training in all areas of the performing arts. For more then 24 years Lindsay has studied and obtained honours in several examinations in R.A.D. Ballet, C.D.T.A Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Vocal and Hip Hop. Aside from her extensive dance background, Lindsay’s vocal ability landed her a role as a cast member in the first CTV’s production of POP STARS. Lindsay also danced her way into a principle role on Bravo’s film THE VAMPIRE which was a nominee in Edmonton’s International Film Festival.

Ms Campagna has worked in all areas of stage from theatre groups, hair and make-up technician, to director of both stage and dance productions such as THE NUTCRACKER. In addition to her dance and stage credits, Lindsay has an impressive background in health and fitness training through Can-fit Pro.

As a fully certified dance educator, Lindsay obtained her Teaching Certificate as Full Members of both Canadian Dance Teachers Association (C.D.T.A) and Performance Arts Educators Of Canada (P.A.E.C). Upon completion of her P.A.E.C exam, she was invited to write the medal testing syllabus which is now used and tested in all of Ontario by P.A.E.C members. In addition to her accreditation, Ms Campagna continues to take master classes in Toronto and L.A., adjudicates for local competitions and attends teaching seminars and workshops from coast to coast.

Ms Campagna has worked with many students and studios from Burlington, Hamilton, Niagara and the surrounding areas. She has contributed to many successful seasons, winning such awards as “Highest Overall Mark”, “Ultimate Studio”, “Outstanding Choreography” and many “Showdowns”. Lindsay’s award winning “Story Tellers” choreography is highly sought after. She is always excited to create a breathtaking experience for her audience and an unforgettable journey with her students.

Juliana Kelly

Tap Director

Dance has always been a big part of Juliana’s life. Beginning her training age of three, she studied in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, pointe, and acrobatics at a competitive level, where she competed across Canada and the United States. Since 2004, her focus has shifted to specializing in tap dance.
Upon graduation of high school, Juliana joined Downbeats Tap Company under the direction of Cathy Duncan where she danced for two years performing in the East Coast Tap Conference (ECTC), Taking the Rhythm Train, Embrace the Rhythm, Toronto’s Live in Culture Campaign and many other shows across Ontario. In 2006 Juliana joined Funk Factory National Tap Dance Ensemble under the direction of Shawn Byfield. Funk Factory headlined events such as National Tap Dance Day (2006 and 2007), The Feats Festival (Edmonton, AB), Live in Rhythm and Deloitte’s 50 Best Managed Companies Gala. Currently Juliana works as a contributing artist with the Toronto Rhythm Initiative (TRI), a collective of tap dancers committed to voicing the artistry of Toronto’s professional tap dance community. With the Toronto Rhythm Initiative she has performed in eight TRI shows to date. She has sat on the faculty for TRI’s Youth Ensemble for many years, and in 2016 began working as co-producer for the Summer Youth Intensive. Juliana spent time studying abroad with Heather Cornell, and performed in Walk To The Beat (Nyack, New York), Rhythm Lives! (Montreal Tap Festival) alongside living legend Arthur Duncan and members of Tapestry Dance Company, as well as performing in the Inaugural Toronto Body Percussion Festival (Allison Toffan). Most recently, Juliana performed in Ron Davis’ Symphronica, and The Inaugural Toronto International Tap Festival (both choreographed by Dianne Montgomery).

Juliana’s love of dance has also led her to many teaching opportunities across Ontario including guest choreography, master classes, summer intensives, workshops, and conventions. Her main focus is as a teacher and choreographer, with a specialization in tap. She has received multiple accolades for her work, and her students are well known in the dance community for their technical and musical excellence. In 2016, Juliana founded The Rhythm Ensemble, a pre-professional youth tap company dedicated to providing unique training and performance opportunities to youth tap dancers. She strives to spread the love, and respect of tap dance and it’s community to all her dancers.

Emily Clark

Tap

Emily began dancing at the age of three and has been involved in the dance world ever since. She trained as both a recreational and competitive dancer for 15 years, studying many disciplines such as ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary and tap, and obtaining high marks in RAD ballet examinations as well as CDTA jazz and tap examinations over the years. Throughout her many years of competing Emily found a true passion for tap and chose to further pursue this discipline as she started her career as a teacher. With a drive to teach and improve technique, coupled with a meticulous eye for detail and cleanliness, Emily’s choreography has received numerous special awards, overall standings, top scoring placements in regional competitive dance showdowns, as well as winning Shine’s Intermediate Young Choreographer’s award in 2014. Alongside tap, Emily has also taught many jazz, ballet, lyrical and stretch and strengthening classes of varying ages and levels of difficulty.
Emily is currently pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology as well as a diploma in Fitness and Health promotion at the University of Guelph and Humber College. Her knowledge of the ways in which the human body functions and its limitations paired with her love for teaching and caring for others allows her to be a motivating and well-rounded teacher who encourages goal setting and reaching new levels in the dance field for all of her students.

 

 

Emmalyne Hietikko

Emmalyne found her passion for dance at the young age of three. Her love and commitment for the art of dance has continued ever since, thanks to Lindsay Campagna, Melissa Bock and many others. Emmalyne has trained extensively in Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Acro, Tap, and Hip Hop. Emmalyne has been a competitive dancer since the age of 10 and has challenged herself to take her success to the next level by attending The Conteur Academy in Toronto, Ontario. This two year program has allowed Emmalyne to continue to study and train beyond her formative years in the studio. She has continued to grow technically and hone her skills and gain a portfolio of knowledge to aid in professional opportunities. While at The Conteur Academy, Emmalyne has studied Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Floor, Pilates, Yoga, and Partnering. She has studied under the expertise of Eryn Waltman, Dani Matte, Ryan Lee, Sheona Bell, Jacqui Wells, and Scott MacDonald.

Emmalyne is certified from the Royal Academy of Dance in Intermediate Ballet, and Elementary Jazz from CDTA. Emmalyne has had the privilege of attending many workshops and intensives in order to further grow as an artist, such as Fresh Dance Intensive, Move Dance Convention, Nuvo Dance Convention, Intrigue Dance Intensive, and The Joffrey Experience NYC. Emmalyne is overjoyed to be teaching at Boogie Down Studio and looks forward to inspiring the next generation of dancers.

 

Melissa Bock M.C.D.T.A

Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Open

Melissa has been dancing in the greater Hamilton region since the age of four. She has trained in several dance disciplines, including ballet, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, as well as many other styles. As a competitive & recreational teacher/choreographer, Melissa has found her strength in the contemporary, jazz, open and musical theatre genres. Her skills have been recognized with Judges’ Choice Awards, Overall Titles, Scholarships and Young Choreographer Awards. Melissa has also been honoured with an overall Choice Choreography Award for an entire competition two years running.

Through her training, Melissa has successfully attained her C.D.T.A. Jazz examinations with honours and obtained her full Teacher’s Certificate in Jazz from the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association. Melissa has also earned a B.A. in Contemporary Studies from Wilfred Laurier University. Being able to study in both the academic and artistic world has helped round Melissa into an extremely capable and valuable dance teacher.

Melissa has had the opportunity to work with many students and studios in the greater Hamilton Area. Not only in choreography & training, but in creating workshops & dance intensives focusing on movement & improv in the contemporary genre. She has also had the pleasure of founding contemporary programs in two studios that she still works with closely today.

Melissa prides herself on creating unique, one of a kind pieces that allow her students to take risks and express their personal style on stage. The ultimate goal for Melissa is to share her knowledge and passion of dance. She strives to instil an artistic appreciation in her students where ever she teaches. Helping them fully understand the true art and expression of dance.
