Oatmeal: A Delicious Start to Your Morning | Boogie Down Studio

One of the most fitting and simplest places to start your transition to an active and healthy lifestyle – other than jumping into a fantastic Barre and/or Boogie Down dance class – is through WHOLE GRAINS! Organic whole grains such as brown rice, millet, and oats keep our bodies in the natural balanced state that we as human beings strive for constantly. Another way to describe natural and balanced, is comfortable, content, and pain-free. Grains help keep us in our natural rhythm.

Starting the morning off with a freshly made bowl of OATS is both nutritious and delicious! While there are a wide variety of other yummy breakfast options – toast, yogurt, fruit, juicing –  they may not work for one reason or another be it personal preference, possibly an allergy or simply the convenience factor. Nothing prepares us better for the day ahead than freshly cooked oats. They keep us fuller longer rather than eating, leaving the house and arriving at your destination feeling starved. With oats we feel centered, skipping over the highs and crashes that can come with sugary jams on toast. A bowl of oats topped with cinnamon, blueberries or apple is what serves us best and here’s why:

Blueberries:
High in antioxidants. Loaded with vitamin C, folate, fiber and phytonutrients.
Fresh berries are some of the most powerful disease fighting foods.

Pears: A great source of minerals including copper, iron, potassium, manganese and magnesium.
Pears are among the least allergenic of fruit, often making them a safer alternative for those with allergies.

Chia Seeds (Whole black): Gluten-free and a wonderful source of Omega 3’s.
Two tablespoons of chia seeds a day = 100% of the daily recommended intake of Omega 3’s.

Cinnamon: A great go-to spice for anti-inflammatory properties to help ease known & unknown swelling within the body.

Other delicious topping options to choose from: Raspberries, Blackberries and Bananas, to name a few.
